Water & Sewage Damage
We're Always Ready
One of the most common losses we are called upon to restore, water damage can appear as a small stain on a ceiling or can extend to an entire home or business including contents.
At Leda, our professionals are certified in water-damage restoration by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC) – the industry standard. This means in-depth and continued training on the proper handling of water-related repairs which is important to minimize damage to property and contents.
How We Can Help
What Now?
One of the first steps, and a very important one, that is often overlooked or completed improperly is the drying process. In the case of heavy water loss, dehumidifiers and air movers should be brought into the building to aid in the removal of the water and/ or water vapour. This equipment must be allowed to remain long enough to properly dry out the structure of the building. Once the property has been thoroughly checked with moisture detection equipment and brought to a dry standard, the restoration process may begin.
When restoring heavy water damage it is important to decontaminate all surface areas that may activate microbial growth. Microbial growth can begin within 48 hours of the initial loss and may pose a health risk, especially to children, the elderly and anyone who suffers from respiratory illness. If the damage was caused by contaminated water, such as a sewer backup, the risks rise dramatically due to possible presence of pathogens.
Using moisture-detection equipment Leda’s professionals are able to locate trapped moisture that would not otherwise be visible. All surfaces can then be properly assessed, and if necessary treated with antimicrobial products. With the proper equipment and techniques health problems and odours can be avoided.
